Join CMC choirs and mariachi for an evening of festive music from Latin America and Spain, from classical to traditional folk. The performance will include some dancing, including Alex and myself dancing to Feliz Navidad.
Enjoy a Christmas concert of festive music from Latin America and Spain this December—Navidad en la Misión returns to the beautiful Mission Dolores Basilica! Featuring performances by CMC's Coro de Cámara, Mariachi CMC, and Neighborhood Choir Program Coros de la Misión: Coro Solera, Coro del Centro Latino de San Francisco and Coro de la 30. The concert includes Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, traditional and folk Christmas songs from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, and Spain. Directed by Martha Rodríguez-Salazar and featuring instrumentalists from CMC faculty, students, and SFUSD faculty.
The program celebrates a rich tapestry of musical traditions from the Spanish-speaking world, celebrating unity, cultural heritage, and the power of music to spread joy in challenging times.
Following the performance, guests are invited to stay for a community celebration with piñata, hot chocolate, and tamales for sale—a perfect way to continue the holiday cheer.
We'll be assisted by Sriparna and Sophia.
