July 8-24
August 5-21
A beginning level aerobic workout that encourages an awareness of breath and safe movement. Designed for active older adults or anyone wanting a mellow cardio class. Guidance in how to adapt intensity and range-of-motion according to your needs will be offered. The class includes a warm-up, cardio exercises, a cardio cool-down, balance exercises, hand weights, and gentle stretching for flexibility. Benefits may be felt after each class and can be expected to grow over time with consistent practice.
We will emphasize standing movement. Variations will be shown to assist you in finding what feels best for you.
Accessible: Can be adapted to a chair workout. If desired, contact me to arrange a free private orientation for this.
Please scroll down to read: Preparation for Class, Welcome, Health & Safety, and to register.
The Zoom link will be emailed to you once you register. Register one time and take as many different classes as you like, as the link you will receive is good for all of the Zoom classes that I offer.
Clear a safe space for your workout. Consider rugs, bags, cords, pets, furniture placement, and so forth. This is important when doing a class in-person and when participating via Zoom.
Have light hand weights/dumbells nearby, in a place where they will not present a tripping hazard. Start with no weight or very light weight and gradually increase the weight over time as your body adapts. Instead of dumbells some people use a water bottle filled with water, or a canned food can. Be sure that whatever you choose fits comfortably in your hand.
As neeeded, have a sturdy chair nearby to use for balance, or to take rest breaks.
Have water on hand to drink during and after class.
All students need to use the "Pay What You Can" button to register for class, even if not submitting payment when registering.
After registering, you will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link for the class. If you don't see the confirmation in your normal email, check your junk mail. Or email me.
For your convenience, the same link is used for all of the Tuesday/Thursday evening classes.
My intention is to continue offering these classes without requiring payment in hopes of including all who want to participate. Please be generous when you can pay and know that you are supporting me and others in the class. Thank-you.
Can't pay right now? No problem, but it is good that we have some sort of exchange to honor the value of my work and the community created by our classes. Here are two non-monetary options to contribute:
Please make a special effort to invite others to my classes. These classes are offered to help keep us all moving and building community as the pandemic evolves and resolves...and beyond.
Do good deeds in exchange for classes you take. Spread the spirit of kindness and generosity in ways that you can. Actively be kind to others. No gesture of kindness is too small...holding a door open or smiling works wonders. Create positive ways to connect with others - take a walk, play music, sing, tell stories and jokes, dance, garden, make something for someone, teach someone to read or write, call a friend or family member, be politically active, and advocate - for the environment, for individuals, for societal issues you care about.
Sliding scale of $0 - $30. per class.
